Golf Vacations: Choosing a Perfect Destination

Location is a big part of picking out the right golf destination for your next trip. Different parts of the world have different styles of golf courses to experience, not to mention varying weather conditions and things to do away from the course. A memorable golf vacation will be one that suits your tastes perfectly – so what is a perfect destination for one person or family might not be the right choice for another. You will need to do a little research into the golf destination options that are available to you, and figure out what features are most important before you book your next trip.

There are three steps involved in the process of picking out the perfect golf vacation destination. Once you work through the three steps below, you should be well on your way to making a great choice.

  1. How far do you want to travel? This question will help you quickly narrow down your list of potential destinations. If you are looking for a trip that is just a few hours’ drive from home, it should be easy to make a list of all the golf resorts you could visit within that range. However, if you are willing to fly several hours or more to find the right golf resort, you will have many more options to pick from.
  2. How much golf do you want to play? Some golfers like to play as much as possible while they are on a vacation, while others only want to play a couple times while also doing some other things. If you are someone that wants to golf a lot on your trip, you need to take into consideration how many courses are available in the areas you are looking at. You probably don’t want to play the same course every day, so make sure there are at least a couple courses nearby your lodging, if not more.
  3. What else do you want to do? Unless you plan on just sitting around your room after golf is over for the day, you will want to make sure there are plenty of other activities in the area to enjoy. Think about your traveling party and what kinds of things they enjoy, then pick out a destination that offers opportunities to have fun before or after your round of golf. The more there is to do in a given location, the more fun you are likely to have on your trip.
